Local Bridge Program
Funding mandated for the reconstruction or rehabilitation of deteriorating local bridges. This program is funded from a combination of Federal and State sources, and generally pays up to 80% of eligible project costs.

Eligibility: Any existing bridge that is on a local public street or highway, has a span of at least 20 feet, and has a sufficiency rating below 80.

What is a sufficiency rating? A bridge is rated using a number between 0 and 100, with a new bridge being listed at 100. When a bridge’s rating falls below 80, the bridge becomes eligible for replacement or rehabilitation. A bridge may also be replaced with a culvert. Local Bridge Program Funds also cover this replacement.
